Essential Driver Training (EDT) is a mandatory training course that teaches fundamental driving skills to learner car drivers. You are required now by law to sit the mandatory 12 EDT driving lessons.
There are a total of 12 EDT Driving Lessons you must complete. You can view the breakdown of the 12 EDT Driving lessons syllabus on our website.
All drivers who have been issued a learner permit on or after 04/04/20 must sit for the mandatory 122 EDT driving lessons.
There is no requirement to repeat EDT. There is one exception; this is where the learner permit has lapsed for more than 5 years.
